Service Description

Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience using a potters wheel, this 6 week long course is just for you. Suitable for people aged 14+ you will attend a weekly 2.5 hour session at our dedicated ceramic studio, here at Higherford Mill, Barrowford in the heart of Pendle. Under the guidance of our expert tutors with many years of experience working with clay, you will be taught the core techniques for creating pottery using a potters wheel, learning how to make simple vessels such cups and bowls, making and attaching handles and refining and trimming your work. If you already have some experience of using a potters wheel and wish to develop or refresh your basic skills . During these session you will be guided in techniques to build height and scale of your chosen thrown forms, learn techniques such as how to create lidded vessels, double walled vessels, as well as refining pieces and trimming. Project specific thrown ware can also be discussed should you have a theme for your makes in mind. Our class sizes are small with a maximum of 6 people and at the end of the course you will have a range of pots that will be fired by the studio. At the end of the course you will have up to five completed pots. All completed work is subject to a small charge by weight and/or volume (see studio for current rate) which is payable on collection of completed pieces. Working with clay is proven to be very beneficial for mental wellbeing it is a great way to really invest in some time for yourself and develop your creativity, confidence and spend time sharing the joys of working with clay with others. Cancellation Policy

All course bookings made with Pendle Pottery Studio are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total cost of the booking value*. Cancellation of any place on a workshop must be made in writing by email to pendlepotterystudio@gmail.com. You must give a minimum of 14 full days notice before the start date of your workshop to be eligible for a credit to transfer your booking to another course, if this is not an option a partial refund will be given which is the amount you paid less 20% deposit. Cancellations made with less than 14 full days notice are non-refundable. ** You can offer your place to someone else providing they are over 14 years of age, but you must contact us to inform us that you wish to do this. * For cancellations of MORE than 14 days notice, if we can fill your place from our waitlist then you will receive a full refund including any deposit. ** For cancellations of LESS than 14 days notice, if we can fill your place from our waitlist then you will receive a partial refund (your booking fee less 20% deposit). If a workshop session is cancelled by the studio due to an emergency or insufficient numbers to run the course then you will be notified as soon as possible, usually by email. You will be offered either an alternative date for the same workshop or a credit for an alternative workshop or a full refund including any deposit.
