Service Description
This 2.5 hour taster session is ideal for absolute beginners and the perfect way to get a taste of the techniques involved in making pottery on a potters wheel. Suitable for people aged 14+ the studio is fully equipped with six potters wheels ensuring every person attending the session gets plenty of time on the wheel, and there is a plentiful supply of stoneware clay available. You will watch demonstrations and be given hands on support from our expert tutor who will guide you through the different stages of creating a pot on the wheel. You will be shown how to centre and open out the clay, how to create a wall to make a vessel and how to finish your piece so that it can be dried and fired in the kiln. At the end of the session you choose a couple of pots from the ones you have made, and the studio will fire and glaze these in your chosen colour for you to collect later. This session is a fun and enjoyable way to experience working on a potters wheel, and if you want to continue to build skills after your taster session you can explore our more in depth, six week , potters wheel courses at the studio. The session takes place in our dedicated pottery studio at Higherford Mill in Barrowford, Lancashire, BB96JH.

Cancellation Policy
All course bookings made with Pendle Pottery Studio are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total cost of the booking value*. Cancellation of any place on a workshop must be made in writing by email to pendlepotterystudio@gmail.com. You must give a minimum of 14 full days notice before the start date of your workshop to be eligible for a credit to transfer your booking to another course, if this is not an option a partial refund will be given which is the amount you paid less 20% deposit. Cancellations made with less than 14 full days notice are non-refundable. ** You can offer your place to someone else providing they are over 14 years of age, but you must contact us to inform us that you wish to do this. * For cancellations of MORE than 14 days notice, if we can fill your place from our waitlist then you will receive a full refund including any deposit. ** For cancellations of LESS than 14 days notice, if we can fill your place from our waitlist then you will receive a partial refund (your booking fee less 20% deposit). If a workshop session is cancelled by the studio due to an emergency or insufficient numbers to run the course then you will be notified as soon as possible, usually by email. You will be offered either an alternative date for the same workshop or a credit for an alternative workshop or a full refund including any deposit.
